Nutrients to Help Ease Stress and Anxiety

blog

“Every moment is a fresh beginning” – T.S. Elliot

The past year has been a slow and uncertain shift back to “normal” life in the Bay Area, as most mandates have been lifted and people have begun to gather again. While many welcome this return to normalcy, the normalcy we are returning to is notably a more anxious one.

In fact, the World Health Organization reports that “in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by a massive 25%”. That is a staggering statistic, and one that prompted many countries to include mental health support as a part of their pandemic response plan.

Heightened and prolonged stress is associated with disruptions across multiple body systems. According to an article published by the Mayo Clinic, increased stress puts you at risk for anxiety, depression, digestive problems, heart disease, sleep problems, and weight gain, amongst other things.

Needless to say, reducing stress and anxiety is crucial to sustaining a high quality of life. Alongside eating a well-balanced diet, engaging in regular exercise, and getting adequate sleep, supplementing with the right nutrients can help ease anxiety and minimize stress.

Taurine (Available in an IM injection or IV drip)

Taurine is an amino acid that is vital to stabilizing cell membranes. It helps improve focus and concentration, as well as aid in reducing anxiety and stress. Taurine also improves overall cardiovascular and eye health, and assists in improving athletic performance, recovery, and mood.

MIC (Available in an IM injection or IV drip)

MIC is composed of three amino acids: Methionine, Inositol, and Choline. This combination can assist in calming the nervous system, easing anxiety, and improving sleep. MIC also helps lower serum cholesterol and stimulates metabolism.

Magnesium (Available in an IM injection or IV drip)

An essential mineral involved with energy metabolism, DNA synthesis, and proper muscle and nerve function, magnesium is also a natural muscle relaxer. We recommend it not only for reducing stress and anxiety, but also helping to alleviate muscle tension, pain, and headaches or migraines.

Glutathione (Available in an IM injection or IV drip)

Glutathione is naturally made in the liver and serves as a master antioxidant and detoxifier for every cell in the body. Research shows that higher levels of stress lead to lower levels of glutathione, which in turn, is associated with increased risk and occurrence of anxiety and depression.
