Our Providers will review your health history to determine the cause of iron deficiency, interpret or order labs including CBC, ferritin, and/or iron, (labs must be within 6 months of service), and give a comprehensive consultation to you. Although this does not guarantee delivery of iron infusion or injection, as lab values must warrant necessity of treatment.
The reactions may start during or after the infusion, and can occur up to 24-48 hours after administration and symptoms generally subside within 6 hours but can last up to 1- 4 days. The most common potential side effects are headaches and joint pain.
INFeD (Iron Dextran Injection, USP) is a dark brown, slightly viscous sterile liquid complex of ferric hydroxide and dextran for intravenous or intramuscular use. INFeD is used to treat iron-deficiency anemia. It is indicated for patients with documented iron deficiency and for whom oral administration is unsatisfactory or impossible.
Venofer (Iron Sucrose injection, USP) is a brown, sterile, aqueous, complex of polynuclear iron (III)-hydroxide in sucrose for intravenous use. Venofer is an established and effective treatment for patients experiencing iron deficiency anemia (IDA).
