Microneedling & PRP -What It’s All About

If you’re looking for an anti-aging treatment but are still determining which one is right for you, Micro-Needling and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) may be an excellent place to start. What are these treatments, and how can they benefit you? Let’s start with some basic explanations of the components of our new B12 LOVE Luxe PRP services.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a popular anti-aging skin rejuvenation treatment involving tiny needles to stimulate facial collagen production. Micro-needling can also help improve the appearance of scars, wrinkles, discoloration, and other skin aging signs. The microneedling “pen” creates “micro” punctures in the skin that utilizes the body’s healing response, boosting collagen and elastin production.

B12 LOVE uses the SkinPen™, not only because it is medical grade and is the first microneedling device cleared by the FDA to safely and effectively treat facial acne scars (for ages 22+) and because it is safe and effective on all skin tones and skin types. We offer microneedling with hyaluronic acid, which can provide a wide array of benefits, including increased collagen and elastin production in the skin, which can help clear acne scars and improve firmness. Hyaluronic acid promotes healing, leaving the skin with a beautiful, youthful, and healthy glow.

What is Plasma?

Plasma is a clear liquid component of the blood that contains essential proteins and helps transport red and white blood cells throughout the body.

What are Platelets?

Platelets are small cell fragments found in plasma that aid in clotting and healing.

What is PRP?

When plasma is enriched with platelets, it becomes PRP. During this process, a fraction of blood (20ml-55ml) is drawn from the individual client into a syringe. (This is a relatively small amount compared to blood donation, which removes 500ml.) The blood is placed in a special centrifuge, spun down, and separated into two components, red blood cells and plasma. This plasma is rich in platelets and growth factors responsible for stimulating collagen production in the skin. This type of plasma is known as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

When injected into the damaged area, PRP causes a mild inflammatory response that triggers the healing cascade. As the platelets organize in the clot, they release a number of enzymes to promote healing and tissue responses, including attracting stem cells to repair the damaged area. As a result, new collagen begins to develop. As the collagen matures, it begins to shrink, causing the tightening and strengthening of the damaged area. When treating injured or sun and time-damaged tissue, they can remodel the tissue to a healthier and younger state. The full procedure takes approximately 45-60 minutes.

How B12 LOVE’s PRP Skin Rejuvenation can help you reach your goals.

Our PRP Skin Rejuvenation treatments involve natural growth factors, particularly platelets extracted from your blood. PRP has a concentrated platelet component that can be used to help with tissue regeneration. Our treatments effectively reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin tone and texture, and fade dark spots and other signs of aging. Both of our solutions can be used to treat a variety of areas on the face, including the under-eye area for dark circles, nasolabial folds (smile lines), cheeks, lips, and chin, and the décolleté for anti-aging effects.

How many treatments do I need?

We recommend three to six treatments, typically 4-6 weeks apart, to maximize results. Your Luxe practitioner can help you decide how many treatments would produce optimal results. Additionally, by using this combination approach, our services are designed to help the body for more sustained regeneration by providing it with different sources of growth factors. This combination technique can restore lost volume in areas like cheeks or lips while simultaneously addressing wrinkles or hyperpigmentation.

If you’re looking to boost natural skin and hair restoration, our B12 LOVE Luxe treatments may be best suited for you. PRP and microneedling can help improve the look and feel of your skin, giving you a more youthful, vibrant appearance.

How can PRP benefit hair loss?

Hair loss can be devastating for those affected, leading to negative self-image and confidence issues. It is estimated that up to 50% of men and 40% of women suffer from hair loss by age 50. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Hair Restoration has become an increasingly popular treatment for hair loss, as it stimulates new cell growth and collagen production in the area around the follicles. This helps to strengthen the hair follicles and encourages new hair growth. PRP Hair Restoration is a revolutionary treatment for hair loss and thinning hair. This procedure uses your body to stimulate cell repair and development in the areas of the scalp affected by baldness or thinning hair.

How does the PRP Hair Restoration treatment work?

The PRP solution is then injected into the scalp, carefully targeting areas of baldness or thinning follicles, stimulating growth factors and healing cells that can help improve scalp circulation and repair damaged tissue. In some cases, this process can even reverse or prevent further hair loss. The injection procedure typically takes about 30 minutes to complete. Even though this type of treatment may sound intimidating, these injections are minimally invasive and typically cause only minor discomfort.

Is this treatment safe? Are there side effects?

PRP Hair Restoration has been gaining popularity as an effective means of treating hair loss since its introduction into medical practices around 2012. The primary benefit of this kind of treatment lies in its use of natural components found in your body. As such, no adverse reactions or side effects are associated with using this modality as opposed to more conventional treatments like transplantation surgeries or topical medications. This non-surgical procedure may provide long-lasting results alongside other treatments and proper care.

Although there are no guarantees with any medical treatment, research indicates that PRP Hair Restoration can dramatically reduce hair loss in both men and women when combined with other treatments like low-level laser therapy or minoxidil medications. Since this method uses your own blood, there are usually no adverse reactions or allergies associated with it.

If you’re experiencing hair loss and want to explore B12 LOVE Luxe Services for Hair Restoration as an option, we recommend you consult with one of our licensed Naturopathic Doctors first.
